How do you have a sell your gold fundraiser?

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A jeweler to buy gold
  • Flyers
  • Publicity
  • A non-profit organization
  • Used gold
  1. Step 1

Find a local gold and jewelry appraiser who is interested in buying used gold and will come to your fundraiser ready to buy. Work out the details of the commission that your non-profit will earn. For example, the jeweler pays the seller for the jewelry and then splits a portion of the profit with your non-profit organization. Everyone wins in this situation. People are willing to bring their old gold jewelry because they get money, your business gets a percentage.

  2. Step 2

Decide on a location, date, and time for your gold selling fundraiser. Make sure your jeweler is available. You may want to have the fundraiser at your non-profit or get permission to have it in a much higher traffic area.

  3. Step 3

Print up some flyers and bulletins about your fundraiser. Distribute them around town, place them on windshields of parked cars. Ask business to let you put them up. Ask the local newspaper or free advertisement paper about a publicity article. Contact local radio stations about free publicity for your organizations fundraiser.

  4. Step 4

Have your fundraiser. The jeweler pays the people for their gold. Your non-profit organization and the jeweler split the profits.

Tips & Warnings
  • Give yourself a few weeks to get the word out.
  • Notify the police of the time and location of your sale, just in case.

on 8/11/2009 A gold fundraiser is fun, profitable and creates a buzz about your organization. Events are important for a nonprofit. It gives a reason for people to rally together for your cause. It provides an opportunity for media attention. Now with that said, it's also cool to meet the gold tester and learn about the process. Then you can choose to accept the offer or not. Sometimes a person wants to think about it and keep a sentimental item for example. Your marketing materials are provided and having someone who knows how to run a fundraiser is a huge help for some organizations! Check out the media attention at www.fastcashgoldparties.com

on 12/23/2008 Hosting your own gold fundraiser can be risky, time consuming and a limited in its success. I recommend hosting a Gold Drive (www.YourGoldDrive.com). They make it super simple. Your Gold Drive creates all the marketing materials. Participants send in their gold from the privacy and safety of their own home. The organization gets paid an additional 20% of all payouts made to participants. Your Gold Drive will be the easiest and most profitable fundraiser your organization has ever held.
