How to Stop Hair From Growing
Unwanted hair can pop up in unexpected places. You may notice a stray hair on your face, neck or chin and extra hairs on your abdomen or arms. Some people think it's easier to get rid of the hair than to stop it from growing, but that isn't true. Ask at your salon or beauty spa about electrolysis, a process that rips the hair root out from beneath the hair line with electronic beams. It usually takes several procedures, and it's often painful.

Consult your doctor about laser hair removal. Lasers are pointed at the unwanted hairs and allowed to pulsate. Once the treatment takes effect, the hairs fall out of the skin and don't grow back.

Use an epilator or pair of electronic tweezers to remove any unwanted hairs. The device sends out an electronic pulse that's received by the follicle. This makes the hair grow back slower or, in some cases, stop growing completely.

Wax the hair at home or have a specialist do it at a salon. Hot wax is applied to the skin along with a cloth strip. Once the wax dries, the cloth is pulled off and takes the hair with it. The hair grows back very slowly and, in some cases, stop growing.

Apply a depilatory cream on the skin. These products are available from pharmacies and drugstores and will slow down hair growth. They dissolve the hair below the skin line and can last up to six weeks, depending on the product.

Tips & Warnings
Once you've removed the hair from your body, try not to stimulate the skin too much. Use a minimal amount of lotion and avoid rubbing the skin. When you stimulate the follicles, the hair grows back faster.
Don't use any cream or conditioner that claims to permanently stop hair from growing back. These products can irritate the skin and, in some cases, cause serious health problems.
