Putting together a jigsaw puzzle is a great way to spend time as a family, and seeing the completed picture always is an exciting conclusion that gives everyone involved a positive sense of accomplishment. However, once that puzzle has been enjoyed, the odds are very slim that anyone will ever put it together again. Instead of allowing old puzzles to clutter up your shelves, use them to make fun picture frames to show off pictures of good family times.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Jigsaw puzzle
  • Frameless plastic picture holder
  • Glue
  • Colored craft bows
  • Silk flowers
  1. Step 1
Brightly colored puzzles with interesting designs, glitter or glow-in-the-dark pieces make particularly good picture frames.

Select a puzzle that you no longer want to keep. Once you have started this project, you will no longer be able to put the puzzle together, so make sure that it is one you do not mind giving up.

  2. Step 2
Use this type of plastic picture holder as the foundation for your frame.

Glue a line of puzzle pieces around the very outside of a plastic picture holder. The puzzle pieces can overlap or not, and they do not need to be entirely on the plastic. Make sure, however, that enough of the puzzle piece is on the plastic holder for the glue to stick and hold.

  3. Step 3

Glue a second layer of puzzle pieces on top of the first. Use this layer to fill in holes in the lower level of the frame and to add depth to your creation.

  4. Step 4

Glue bows, flowers or both onto the frame as accents. You may wish to place a large flower in the corner of the frame or center a bow at the top and bottom. You can place as many or as few of these accents on the frame as you wish, but be sure that you do not obscure the area where the picture goes.

  5. Step 5

Allow your frame to dry for at least an hour. Do not put a picture into the frame until it has dried for at least an hour to prevent pieces from falling off when you insert the picture.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be very careful when inserting pictures into the frame since most plastic picture holders are pliable. If you bend it too much you may cause the puzzle pieces to fall off.
