Hiccups come and go. Most of get annoyed when they come. So here are a few techniques that should help them to go away.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Glass of water
  • Paper bag
  • One teaspoon of dry sugar
  1. Step 1

    Try holding your breath. Inhale deeply and hold in the air as long as you can, without passing out.

  2. Step 2

    If step one does not work, try making yourself burp. This may be able to get any air you might have swallowed out of your windpipe and stop your hiccups.

  3. Step 3

    Drink a glass of water while holding your breath. This will change, or temporarily stop, your normal breathing pattern and disrupt hiccups.

  4. Step 4

    Breathe quickly into a paper bag. Hyperventilating into a paper bag may help you to focus on the breathing enough to stop your hiccups.

Tips & Warnings
  • In reference to step 4: NEVER USE A PLASTIC BAG!
