Designing a logo may seem intimidating, but it isn't impossible. If you have an eye for fashion, it's not too hard to use those skills to create a fashion logo. All that's needed is the right tools
Write down all the adjectives you can think of to describe your company's brand. Is it fun? Flirty? Conservative? Over-the-top? You'll need to have this list at the ready when thinking of elements for your logo.
Take a look at logos for other fashion companies. They usually revolve around either the name or a simple symbol that's stitched on to every piece of clothing. Pay close attention to what your competitors are doing. You want to come up with something eye-catching yet unique and doesn't resemble their brand in anyway.
Gather your tools, namely Adobe Illustrator. If you don't have a copy, you can get access to the program at Kinko's, your local library or at a college computer lab. If you don't know how to use the program, check out a few books to get an idea of how it works.
Choose your colors. Whomever you are designing for should have color samples for you to pick from. Make sure you pick color that will look the same both printed and stitched.
Find your vendors. If this is a clothing line, you will need someone to embroider your logo on and printers for your tags, business cards, and other materials. Be sure that you do this before you get your materials made because colors can look very different on a computer screen than in real life.
Design your logo. Be sure to convert all text to outlines and that the colors are set up the way your vendors require them to be. Save the file as an eps, and give to the company that has hired you to design the logo.
