How to Make a Lego Man Costume

A Lego man costume is fun and easy to make and always turns out great. It is so easy to do that even the kids can play a part. This costume requires only a few materials and a little bit of time. A Lego man costume is great for trick or treating or playtime.

Things You'll Need

  • Large box
  • Small box
  • 5 to 7 Empty 16 oz butter tubs
  • Hot glue gun
  • Utility knife
  • Spray paint or matte craft paint and paint brush
  • Make the arm holes. Find a box that is not much wider than the child's body so the arms comfortably fit through the holes. Use a utility knife to cut two holes on opposite sides of the top of the box.

  • Use the utility knife to cut a hole in the top of the box that is large enough for the child's head.

  • Glue 4 or 6 empty butter tubs spaced evenly apart on one side of the large box using a hot glue gun. Allow the hot glue to cool completely. This will become the front of the Lego man costume.

  • Attach the last butter tub on the top of the small box using glue. The small box should fit on the head and still allow the child to see.

  • Choose one color for the Lego costume. The most common Lego colors are basic blue, red and yellow.

  • Paint each side of the large and small boxes and butter tubs. Spray paint provides an even coverage. If the kids want to help, use large brushes and a lot of matte craft paint.

  • Finish the costume by selecting clothing in the same color to be worn underneath. This can include a long-sleeved t-shirt, sweat pants and painted or dyed canvas tennis shoes.
