Although you may know how to create a flower design on your fingernail with nail polish or paint, you can achieve different floral looks by using crafts supplies during your next manicure. You'll be able to create dimensional and detailed looks in a fraction of the time.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Nail polish
  • Decorative rub-ons
  • Top coat
  • Hole punch
  • Thin foam sheets
  • Decorative paper
  • Paper punch
  • Stickers
  1. Step 1

Paint your finger or toenails with a shade that will coordinate and highlight the flower embellishment you plan to add. If you're using a light-colored accent, for example, a dark polish will provide contrast to help it stand out.

  2. Step 2

Add a detailed design in an instant with decorative rub-ons designed for scrapbook layouts. Trim the flower design from the sheet. Allow the polish to dry until tacky and then lay the rub-on atop your nail. The design should stick to the nail immediately. If it doesn't, allow the nail to dry completely, then add the rub-on with a blunt stick (see Resources).

  3. Step 3

Create a dimensional, dotted flower with a 1/8 or 1/16-inch hole punch and thin foam sheets. Punch five or six dots from one color and one dot from a contrasting color to serve as the flower center. Polish your nail and immediately press the center dot into the middle of your nail. Add the other dots in a circle around it to form a flower. The wet polish should help them stick without adhesive.

  4. Step 4

Design a simple decal by punching tiny flowers from decorative paper with a flower punch. Seal the piece to your nail with top coat. Experiment with different types of paper since the top coat may turn some of them translucent.

  5. Step 5

Place flowers on completely dry nails by using tiny stickers. Stickers are also a great way to add designs to your daughter's nails if she wants to mimic your manicured looks (see Resources).
