A hovercraft floats along the ground, suspended by a cushion of air. Here is a simple hovercraft you can make using an old CD, a balloon and a "pop-open" water bottle cap.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Instant glue
  • "Pop-open" screw-top cap (often found on disposable water bottles or dish washing detergent)
  • Old CD
  • Balloon
  • Smooth floor
  1. Step 1

Put instant glue on the base of the plastic cap.

  2. Step 2

Press the bottom of the cap to the center of the CD and hold it for ten seconds.

  3. Step 3

Stretch the opening of the balloon over the top of the plastic cap. The balloon should fit snuggly so that no air will escape when you blow it up.

  4. Step 4

Blow up the balloon from the back of the CD. After the balloon is full, make sure the "pop-top" is closed.

  5. Step 5

Put your hovercraft down on the floor (a smooth surface works best) and pull the cap open.

  6. Step 6

Watch your hovercraft glide across the floor, suspended on a cushion of air. When it runs out, just blow it up again!
