Over 30,000 deaths occur annually from liver disease. It strikes in many different ways. The first step in overcoming liver disease is knowing the signs and symptoms. It may mean the difference between life and death. Here’s how to spot the symptoms of liver disease.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find out if there is a lack of focus. Liver disease may attack the nervous system and bring on a variety of issues. Poor concentration, mood swings, irritability, anger, headaches and depression are just some of the neurological dysfunctions that may be brought on by liver disease.

  2. Step 2

Search the patient or loved one for visible skin issues. Jaundice is a well-known symptom of liver disease. In addition to that, skin rashes, itchy skin and spider- like blood vessels on the skin are also skin issues that are associated with liver disease. Brown spots and blemishes on the skin are also a sign.

  3. Step 3

Observe smells that come from the patient. Unusual body odor is major sign of liver disease. In addition to the body, bad breath is also a sign of potential liver disease. The body odor may come from the excessive sweating that comes with liver disease.

  4. Step 4

Get to a doctor. Most of the symptoms mentioned bring little warning on their own and may go unnoticed. The combination of these symptoms, however, should signal the patient or caregiver to see a physician as soon as possible. The doctor will be able to further examine for issues like enlarged spleen, fluid in the abdomen and bone loss. These additional symptoms would have to be assessed under the eye of a professional.
