How to Put Photos in a Microsoft Word Document

Sometimes it becomes necessary for a document to include more than words, especially to illustrate a point. You may not realize that you can place your photos, clip art, charts, drawings and diagrams directly into a Microsoft Word document. This is especially handy in place of sending huge emails that will take a long time to piece together and bog down your system's bandwidth limits and other restrictions. You can accomplish the same thing in about half the time by using old-fashioned paper documents.

Instructions

    • 1

Open up Microsoft Word and begin working on your document. You can create a new document or retrieve an old file.

    • 2

Click on or scroll down to the point in your document where you would like the new picture or file to be. The cursor will be flashing at that place on your screen. Be advised that you can place photos in more than one place on the document or cut & paste from another document or even the Internet.

    • 3

Open up the web page, document or file that contains the photo you wish to put in your Microsoft Word document.

    • 4

Right click on the photo and a properties menu will appear. Select "save as" or "copy" as desired. This menu is demonstrated in a photo in this article.

    • 5

Click on the Word document once again to Maximize it to your screen.

    • 6

Right click again and "paste" the photo within the document. Adjust the size by dragging the corners diagonally as needed for best appearance.

    • 7

Repeat this process for all future photos within this document or others. And, be sure to save the document as you have made changes to it. When the document prints or displays, the photos will be located in it as well.
