How to Use Digg to Network a Business

Digg is a community based social news bookmarking website that allows people to share articles and posts that they have found on the internet that is of interest to them. They allow for the user to share anything that they desire such as the news, or podcasts or videos and more. The submissions are voted by the users and if it is of interest, then the submission will gain in popularity and exposure. Using Digg to help a business to gain exposure will also help the business to increase recognition. Digg.com involves the ability to store websites and pages to look at a later time or share them with others. Digg provides a free service to the community of users. It is best to check out other websites that are in the network to gain input and mirror on how they are using the site. The goal is to be able to provide similar popular content as your competitors. Showing that you are an expert in your business will help other users to gain a better understanding of the services that your business provides.

      Go to Digg.com and sign up for an account.

      Fill in a profile and submit a picture of your choice.

      Add in URL links to your website and a description.

      Click on Submit New button on the top right hand side of the website to submit in an article.

      Add on the URL or website address of your website in the space that says "Enter the URL".

      On the "choose media" section choose whether you are submitting a News Article, Video or Image. Then click on the Continue button.

      Under the section "Describe it", Enter in a title of the submission and description of the article.

      Under the "Choose a Topic" section, Choose a topic of where you would like place your submission.

      In the Preview section, choose to preview and make corrections if needed.

      In the "Are You Human" section, enter in the code that is provided.

      To submit in the story, click on the Submit Story button to complete the process. Digg will check to see if your story is a duplicate, and if there are duplicates found it will show the possible duplicated articles that it pulls up from its system.

      On the bottom of the page, Click on the "Totally original, I swear!" button to complete the submission of the article.

Tips & Warnings

  • A free Digg.com account

  • The articles must well-written and not be sales advertisement. This will cause users to instead “bury” your article instead of “digging” it.
