How to Heal Fungal Infections in the Armpit

Fungal infections of the armpit are irritating and embarassing. Read on to learn how to handle the problem. Also watch it carefully, as it could be something other than a fungus. If it does not improve consult a dematologist.

Instructions

    • 1

Keep the area dry. This means no baths, showers, or swiming. Be sure to wear a cotton undershirt, and change it regularly, especially if the weather is warm. Moisture encourages the growth of fungi.

    • 2

Wash your be sheets and underwear thoroughly, as they could be the source of your infection.

    • 3

Treat the itching with over the counter anti-itching creams. Use these medications sparingly at first, until you are sure that they are helping and not making the itching worse.

    • 4

Consult a dermatologist if the condition does not improve within a few days, or if it gets worse. The doctor can prescribe anti-fungal medication, and will also be better equipped to identify the source of your condition.

Tips & Warnings

  • Consult your primary doctor or a dermatologist if the condition worsens, spreads, or does not improve within a few days. Keep in mind that you could have misdiagnosed the condition. It could instead be an allergic reaction or some other type of infection.
