How to Make Stand Up Animals
-
1
Flip through some magazines with your kids, looking for pictures or photos of animals. For our purposes, animals with four legs--horses, cows, elephants, giraffes, zebras, dogs, cats, lions, tigers, and the like--work best.
-
2
Each time you come across an animal picture or photo of decent size, cut it out with scissors and put it aside. Continue searching until you have a nice little collection of animals. This is a good chance to talk with your kids about different animals--where they come from, what they eat, and what sounds they make, for example.

3
Trace the outlines of the animals on a piece of cardboard, then cut the outlines out of the cardboard. Use glue to paste the photos onto their corresponding cardboard cutouts.
-
4
For four-legged animals, attach two clothespins to the animals' bodies, where their legs would naturally attach.
-
5
Stand your animals up on their new wooden "legs," one by one, until all of your animals are standing together.

Tips & Warnings
Don't use too much glue! Magazine paper tends to be extremely thin, meaning the glue will bleed right through unless applied in very small amounts.
