When first using a wireless controller with an Xbox 360, whether the controller is brand-new or new to that particular console, it is necessary to set it up. This process is simple and straightforward to perform.

    Things You'll Need

    • Xbox 360
    • Xbox 360 wireless controller

        Power on the Xbox 360.

        Power on the Xbox 360 wireless controller.

        Press the "Connect" button on your Xbox 360 controller; the button is between the charge port and the "LB" (Left Bumper) button. Once pressed, the LED on the "Xbox" button on your controller will start spinning.

        Press the "Connect" button located to the right of "Memory Unit B" on the Xbox 360 console immediately after the LED begins to spin. The LEDs on both the controller and the console flash, and the controller is assigned Player 1, 2, 3 or 4. If the controller is not assigned a player number, repeat the process.

    Tips & Warnings

    • It doesn't really matter which connect button you press first, just remember that you only have a limited amount of time to press both.
