Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Business furniture (chairs and desks)
  • Filing cabinets
  • Radios
  • Phones
  • Appointment books

Make sure you have working radios

  1. Step 1

Make sure you have working radios. A trucking business office must have working radios. These radios are used to communicate with the truckers. You must be able to communicate easily with your truckers so you can tell them about any changes of routes, alert them of road conditions or weather conditions. It also helps you to make sure that every trucker is on schedule.

  2. Step 2

Purchase a good phone system. A phone system is vital for every business office, including a trucking business. This is one way in which you can talk to potential customers and complete transactions. Make sure you have a reliable phone system and one that has the proper number of lines needed.

  3. Step 3

Purchase a good computer system. A computer system is necessary to track orders, schedule payments to your employees and help you to conduct a number of office transactions. Make sure your computer system comes equipped with the proper software programs you may need, a good quality printer and possibly even a fax machine.

  4. Step 4

Purchase a filing cabinet or cabinets. You will need a filing cabinet to store copies of sale receipts and other important documents. Don't believe that you can store all your documents via a computer because you will need hard copies of these documents, too. A filing cabinet or cabinets are the best way in which to hold all of these important documents in an efficient way.

  5. Step 5

Purchase office furniture that will last. Office furniture that is made of quality materials are the type that will last. This will benefit your trucking business office because you won't have to worry about replacing them frequently. Plus, if you buy quality furniture, it gives your business office a more professional and classy feel to it.

  6. Step 6

Purchase an appointment book or scheduler. All business people have appointments and they have to keep track of important events and deadlines. The best way to do this is by keeping all important dates and events written down on a calendar, appointment book or other type of scheduling tool. Make sure your trucking business office has one for every working member of the business office.
