How to Make a Toy Robot

Toy robots were once little wind up clunkers manufactured by the USA and Germany. By the 1950s, however, Japan built toy robots that included a new strategy in their arsenal of toy robot design methods: the battery! • Soldering iron
• Solder wire
• Foam tape
• Pager motor
• Watch battery
• Head of a toothbrush

Instructions

Make a toy robot from a toothbrush

1. Remove the head of the toothbrush with a pair of wire clipers or metal cutter scissors.

2. Cut the bristles on the brush to be the same length.

3. Solder some wire leads to the back/ input of the pager motor.

4. Attach foam tape to the back of the toothbrush head. Connect the motor to the front of the toothbrush, so that the wire leads run down the length of the toothbrush head.

5. Bend one of the leads downward so that it sticks to the foam tape.

6. Place your battery in between the leads and set your completed robot down on a flat counter surface.
