How to wheelie on a BMX bike

The wheelie is probably the most common BMX trick. It is easy enough for novices to learn, but is also used frequently by the pros. Once learned it can be repeated over and over again fairly easily.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • BMX bike
  • Helmet and other protective gear

    How to Wheelie on a BMX Bike

  1. Step 1

    Start riding your bike and build up speed.

  2. Step 2

    Push down on the handlebars and lean your body once you have built up some speed.

  3. Step 3

    Lean your body back quickly, while simultaneously pulling up on the handlebars.

  4. Step 4

    Lean back even further as the front wheel starts to lift off the ground. Continue pedaling while doing this if you're able.

  5. Step 5

    Bring the wheel back down by leaning forward and allowing your bike to lose speed.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't lean too far while performing the wheelie or you will fall backwards.
  • Performing tricks, such as wheelies, on BMX bikes can cause serious injury. Make sure to wear the proper protective gear.
