How to Eliminate Odors Indoors
-
1
Take the trash out at least once a week. You might want to do this more often during the summer months. When you leave your trash inside, it decomposes inside the house too. The only way to eliminate this type of odor is to remove it from the inside of your house and spray an air freshener until the odor fades away.

2
Cut up some lemons and throw them down your garbage disposal. Lemon is a natural disinfectant so it will kill any germs lingering in your disposal.

Clean your floors and bathrooms at least once a week. Dirt and grime can accumulate quickly on floors (tile and carpets) and in bathrooms. These are high traffic areas, so it's beneficial to clean them before mold or mildew develops. For tile, use water and lemon essential oil (100% therapeutic grade) to clean. You may have to purchase a special cleaner for wood floors, because the lemon oil might cause the wood to fade. For carpeting, you might want to invest in an upright carpet cleaner.

4
Wash sheets, towels and clothes at least once a week. Body odor, dirt and mold on these types of fabrics can cause odor. Also wash your dishes regularly or at least completely rinse off all the food before placing them in your dishwasher or sink.
-
5
Purchase an essential oil diffuser. This way you can have the essence of lemon in your house during the days when you don't clean. Essential oil is potent and more powerful than any other air fresheners sold in stores.
