Finding the right stepmothers' support group

1
Look in your local paper. More often than not the newspaper will contain listings for a wide variety of support groups and organizations. Chances are if such an organization exists in your community, it publishes its meeting schedule in one of your local publications.

2
Search on-line. You will find at least a few websites that cater to the needs of stepmothers. The website for Stepmoms on a Mission, for example, features a bulletin board where stepmothers from across the world can come together to discuss their shared problems and concerns. Another website, Daily Strength, features an anonymous chat room for stepmothers to converse with one another. It's not an in-person support group meeting, but it's a good substitute.

Go to your house of worship. Ask if the church or temple hosts such a group. Although the church or temple may not be a sponsor of a group, the site would be a good location for meetings and you might suggest that. It is likely that a group associated with a house of worship will be on the up and up, so make sure you try this route.

Ask a friend. If you know someone who has been in a similar situation, or maybe has friends or relatives of their own that were, you could ask her for advice in finding such a support group. You might be embarrassed to ask, but you can be sure that a good friend will steer you in the right direction.
