1
Wash your face in the morning and at night with a wash suited to your skin type. If you have visible pores all over your face, use a wash for oily skin. If you have very few visible pores, you likely have dry skin. People whose visible pores are limited to their forehead, chin and nose generally have normal skin.
-
2
Moisturize your skin after washing, even if you have oily skin. Read the bottle's label to see if it is meant for oily, normal or dry skin.

3
Exfoliate at least once a week by rubbing an exfoliating product softly on your face with your fingers, avoiding your eye area. Rub the product on your face for about the same length of time that you would normally wash it. Rinse the product off with water and dry your skin with a towel. Exfoliating products have small, granular beads in them to slough off dead skin cells and make your skin smooth.
-
4
Drink eight, 8-ounce glasses of water each day. Water helps flush out your system and keep your skin clear. Stay away from sugary juices or soft drinks since sugar may exacerbate acne.
-
5
Apply masks at least weekly. Try a clay mask for deep cleaning or a lotion mask for deep moisturizing. Apply the mask with your fingers, leave it on for about 15 minutes until it dries and then wash or peel it off.
-
6
Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables and leafy greens. Your skin is your body's largest organ and it responds to the food you eat. Foods high in omega-3 fatty acids, such as salmon and almonds, are especially good for your skin.
-
7
Exercise for about 30 minutes three to five times each week. Regular exercise helps to decrease stress, which may result in fewer breakouts. It also promotes blood flow to the skin, helping cells to stay healthy.
