Third generation cell phones can sync to your computer with additional accessories. Syncing your phone to your computer allows you to transfer your Outlook calendar onto your phone or transfer photos, songs and phone numbers. Syncing accessories are available at stores licensed to sell the cell phones, as well as at online stores, some of which sell the same items for lower prices.

Things You'll Need:

  • Cell phone model number
  1. Step 1

Identify your cell phone model number. Not every accessory is interchangeable, even if it's manufactured by the same company that made your cell phone. You can find the model number by looking underneath the battery.

  2. Step 2

Purchase the proper accessory. USB cables are the main method for transferring files. They fit into the battery charger jack. Overseas stores sell the items, but shipping may take a few days. Try discount stores such as iTrimming (see Additional Resources). CellPhoneShop guarantees the lowest prices for syncing accessories on the Internet.

  3. Step 3

Download the sync software. The accessory should come with a compact disc with the sync software on it, however, the software is easy to find if you bought only a cable. Search a website such as Brothersoft for your cell phone model number to get the sync software for free.

Tips & Warnings
  • Unofficial foreign stores have cheap prices but almost no customer service. You may not be able to get a refund if you order the wrong item.
  • Not every site on the Internet will give away the software. Double check the price of the program before downloading.
