How to Add Images to Articles in Joomla 1.5
Joomla is one of the leading Content Management Systems (CMS) on the Internet today. Joomla is not only powerful and flexible, but it is also free. These aspects combined make it the ideal choice for many people who just want a simple software to manage their website, without learning any complicated programming languages. For those who are accustomed to coding the html of their web site the old-fashioned way, Joomla can seem a little confusing, even backwards, at first, especially for routine tasks such as adding images to your pages. Once you have learned how Joomla works, you'll never want to go back to the old way again. Here is how to add images to your articles using Joomla 1.5.

- Moderately Easy

1
Admin LogIn
Log in to the Joomla admin control panel. To do this, simply go to the admin login screen, enter both the user name and password, and click the button to log in. To get to the admin login screen, on the standard Joomla installation, you will go to “yoursite.com/administrator/”.

2
Article Manager
Consider whether you are creating a new article, or adding images to an existing article. If this is a new article, simply click the button marked “Add Article” to go to the article composition screen. If you are adding the image(s) to an existing article, you will need to go to the “Article Manager” to look for the article you wish to edit.
-
3
Select Location
Place the cursor in the area of the article where you want to insert your image.
-
4
Click the button marked “Image." When you click this button, a new window will open to allow you to select an existing image, or upload a new one.
-
5
Image Menu
Select the image you wish to insert into your article. If the image has previously been uploaded to your Joomla Media Manager, then all you have to do is select from the list of existing images. If not, then click the “Browse” button to add a new image to the Media Manager.

Image Options
Choose the options for your image. After you select the image to use, type a description for the image. In Joomla, the image description is the equivalent of the "alt" tag in traditional html. You can also choose to have a caption for your image, as well as choosing how the image will be aligned (to the left, to the right or centered).
-
7
Insert Image
Click the “Insert” button in the top right corner when you have finished making your selections. When you click “Insert” the image will be inserted into the article, in the position where you placed the cursor in Step 3.
-
8
Adjust Size
Adjust the height and width of your image, if necessary. Click the “html” icon in the Joomla article editor. This will open a window that allows you to edit all of the html code on the article, including the size dimensions of your images. Although, you will have better results if you use an image editor, such as Adobe Photoshop or MS Paint, to edit the size of your image.

I was wondering if there is a way you can associate an image with an article - and not add it in the content but call it say for instance in a section list? -
