Outlook calendar, Google calendar, will they sync with IPhone? Using iTunes, your iPhone can sync with your Outlook calendar, just as it does with your contacts. It is also simple to sync your Google calendar with your iPhone, especially if you use iCal. Read on to learn how to sync an iPhone with your Outlook calendar or Google calendar.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Sync Your iPhone With Your Outlook Calendar Using iTunes

  1. Step 1

Open iTunes and check to make sure that you have the most recent version. Do this by clicking on "Help" and then click on "Check for Updates."

  2. Step 2

Use the cable that comes with your iPhone to connect it directly to your computer. This will automatically launch iTunes. Select "iPhone" from the iTunes source list. Click on the "Info" tab in iTunes.

  3. Step 3

Click on the "Sync Outlook calendars" option. Click on "Apply" in the lower right-hand corner of your screen. Your computer will now sync with your iPhone based on your settings.

  4. Sync Your iPhone With Your Google Calendar Using iCal

  5. Step 1

Sign into your Google account and go to your Google calendar page. In the left bar of the page, click on the downward arrow that's next to the calendar you want to sync. In the drop-down menu, click on " Share this calendar."

  6. Step 2

Click on the "Calender Details" tab. Next, scroll down to locate the "Private Address " section at the bottom of the page. Click on the green button labeled "ICAL." This will open a pop-up window that has the URL with the private address for your calendar. This address must never be shared with anyone else, as it gives full access to your Google calendar. Highlight and then copy this URL to your clipboard (Control + C)

  7. Step 3

Launch your iCal application from your Dock. Go to "Calendar" in the top menu, and then click on "Subscribe." Paste the URL from your clipboard here (Control + V) into the pop-up dialogue box. Click on the "Subscribe" button. This will subscribe your iPhone to your Google calendar, and will open an information window.

  8. Step 4

Type a name and description for the calendar into the appropriate blank fields. If you do not want to import the "Alarms," "Attachments," and/or "To Do items" from Google, then check the box next to the option/s that you do not want.

  9. Step 5

Choose a time interval from the drop-down box labeled "Auto-refresh." This will determine the frequency with which iCal will refresh Google Calendar.

  10. Step 6

Click the "OK" button. Your Google calendar will now be listed in the left-hand pane of your iCal window. Now, the next time your iPhone syncs, it will update all your Google calendar events as well.

Tips & Warnings
  • Your calendars must be stored in an Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007 compatible calendar application.
  • You can adjust your settings whenever your iPhone is connected to your PC.
  • You only need to sync ical and Google just this once: iCal will automatically update any new calendar events at your specified time intervals, with every sync.
