How to Clean Oil Off a Driveway

Step1
Pour clay cat litter around the oil spill so that it doesn't leak down the driveway. Then pour more of the litter directly on top of the spill.
Step2
Allow the litter to soak up the oil then sweep the litter into a dust pan and place the litter into a double bagged garbage bag.
Step3
If a stain still remains on the driveway, pour more clay cat litter on the spot and leave it on over night. Place newspaper and bricks over top of it so the litter doesn't blow away. The litter will absorb the excess oil.
Step4
Use detergent and a scrub brush on the spot if there is still a stain the next day.

Tips & Warnings

  • Sometimes power washing or sand works too.
  • Clean the oil up immediately so children, pets and other animals do not ingest it.
