    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • Pad of paper
    • Pen or pencil
    • Word processing computer program
      • 1

Have a pad of paper handy, along with a pen or pencil so that every rule that is decided upon can be written down.

      • 2

When it comes to the raffle, first decide on what the winner of the raffle will receive and whether or not there will be more than one winner. If you need to raise a lot of money then you may want to give away a large prize, like a television or a vacation voucher. On the other hand, small prizes are great if you're only looking to raise a small to medium amount of money.

      • 3

Next, consider whether or not the winner will need to be present at the time of the raffle drawing and write it down under your list of raffle rules that you have begun to set.

      • 4

Figure out how many tickets will be sold in all. This can be done by estimating or looking at how many participants will be at the event where the raffle will be. Larger event raffles usually can easily sell thousands of raffle tickets.

      • 5

Make a decision about how many raffle tickets can be purchased by each person. A good rule of thumb is to allow limitless raffle ticket purchases because this will easily draw more purchases from a single buyer.

      • 6

Decide how the raffle tickets will be sold. For example, consider whether the tickets will be sold "at the door" or whether you will need to have raffle ticket "sellers." If ticket "sellers" are being used, decide on a small prize to be given to the one who sells the most.

      • 7

Next, decide and write down a set date and time for the raffle drawing. Many people decide to hold the drawing in the middle of a large event, such as a festival or party.

      • 8

Draw up an "official raffle rules" document in your word processing program by typing up everything you have decided on, making sure to list the time and date for the big raffle drawing.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Be sure to check with your local city or state regulations to make sure there is no law or regulation against holding a raffle drawing.
