How to Make an Audio CD in iTunes

Here is an easier way to get your audio files, including music (mp3) onto a CD without navigating a lot of unfamiliar screens, steps or having a lot of computer knowledge. It is all free and can be done in a few minutes with these tips. You can do this with a Mac or PC. Read on to learn how to make an audio CD in iTunes.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Download iTunes if you do not already have it installed on your computer. Click "Download iTunes Free" on the left side of your screen. The download could take up to 45 minutes depending upon your Internet connection. The link is found within this article.

    Create a new playlist by going to the "File" menu on the top and selecting, "New Playlist."

  3. Step 3

    "Untitled Playlist" will appear in blue. Start typing a new name over that title.

  4. Step 4

    Drag and drop the desired audio tracks from your library into the playlist you just created. This will be located on the left-hand side of your screen.

  5. Step 5

    Insert a blank, unformatted CD into the tray and while you are in the playlist click the "Burn Disc" button at the bottom of the iTunes window pane. The audio CD will eject automatically when iTunes finishes the burning process.

Tips & Warnings
  • Test the CD to make sure it plays in your CD players.
  • Use these tips for voice or regular music track recordings.
