Daily heat styling and the use of hair products can wreak havoc on your hair. Every now and then it’s necessary to give your hair some special nourishment and do a deep conditioning treatment. The best part is you don’t have to pay big bucks to get it done at a salon. You can do it on your time and in the comfort of your own home for a fraction of the price.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Clarifying shampoo
  • Intensive Moisturizing Conditioner
  • Plastic shower cap
  • Hair dryer
  • Hot towel
  • Wide toothed comb
  1. Step 1

Shampoo your hair with the clarifying conditioner. Clarifying shampoo removes all of the buildup in your hair that is caused by styling products, cleansers and environmental pollution. It is important to know that you should only use a clarifying shampoo once a week at the most. Using it too frequently can severely dry your hair out. After you finish shampooing, don’t condition your hair with your daily conditioner.

  2. Step 2

Detangle your hair. Using a wide toothed comb detangle your hair. If your hair happens to be knotted up you can add a leave-in conditioner or spray to help detangle it. However, it is best to not add any products at all if you can get away with it.

  3. Step 3

Apply the deep conditioner generously to your hair. When you apply the conditioner, pay extra close attention to the ends. They seem to endure the most abuse from hair care products and heat styling. The ends are also the oldest part of your hair. Once you feel you have enough conditioner put the plastic shower cap over your hair.

  4. Step 4

Get things heated up. Applying heat to a deep conditioning treatment often intensifies the overall effect of a treatment. If you don’t have professional salon dryer at home, you can use a hair dryer and a hot towel. Turn your hair dryer on the highest heat and apply the heat to the plastic shower cap, which is covering your hair. Continue applying heat for 1 one minute and then wrap your hair in the hot towel. Leave the deep conditioner in for a minimum of 20 minutes.

  5. Step 5

Rinse and style your hair. Now that the deep conditioning treatment is done, it’s time for the last step. Rinse your hair with cool water. This helps to seal the cuticle. Make sure to get all of the conditioner out of your hair. Continue on with your daily styling routine and enjoy your soft and luxurious hair!

Tips & Warnings
  • Do a facial at the same time as your deep conditioning treatment.
  • Leave the conditioner on for an hour or more if you have the time.
  • Be careful when combing your hair after you shampoo because hair is more susceptible to damage when it is wet.
