Smoke started out as a human in the Lin Kuei ninja clan. After failing to escape with his partner Sub-Zero, he was transformed by his clan into a cyborg ninja who eventually killed his ex-partner. Smoke's first appearance was in Mortal Kombat 2, randomly appearing before matches to give hints on how to fight him. In Mortal Kombat 3, Smoke shows up as an enemy once again. Except this time, with a few codes, you can finally fight with the tortured cyborg.
