How to Microwave Shrimp

Believe it or not it is highly possible to cook tasty shrimp in a microwave. This article will give you a basic recipe and technique on how to accomplish that feat.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Flat glass casserole dish
  • small microwaveable bowl
  • 1 stick of butter, unsalted
  • 2 tbsp. garlic salt
  • 1 tbsp. of lemon pepper
  • basting brush
  • paper towels
  • Cleaned and thawed shrimp,
  • Medium or large 30 ct to feed 2-4

    How To Cook Shrimp In A Microwave

  1. Step 1

    First put a stick in a small bowl. Cover with a paper towel and cook for 45 seconds. Remove from microwave. Spread half of the butter evenly across the casserole dish. Season with one tablespoon of garlic salt.

  2. Step 2

    Place clean and thawed shrimp evenly in the casserole dish. Make sure none of the shrimp are touching. Let them sit for two minutes and then turn them over.

  3. Step 3

    Mix the remainder of the garlic salt and lemon pepper into the rest of the melted butter still in the bowl. Baste half of that mix over the surface of the shrimp. Make sure you get an even coat.

  4. Step 4

    Microwave the shrimp for three minutes or until shrimp are pink. Again, be sure to put a paper towel over the dish. Remove the casserole dish, turn the shrimp over and baste with the remainder of the butter and seasoning mix. Microwave for 30 more seconds and then let it stand.

Tips & Warnings
  • Making sure you have a paper towel over the microwaved dishes keeps the butter from splattering everywhere.
  • Do not touch recently microwaved dishes or food with your bare hands.
