Making batter for cod fillets is easy when you know the right way. The following steps will show you how to make an English fish-and-chips-style batter for crisp and delicious cod.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • Spices to taste

    How to Make Cod Fish Batter

  1. Step 1

    Mix together the flour, salt and baking powder.

  2. Step 2

    Stir in the egg and milk until the batter is smooth. Let it stand for at least 20 minutes before using.

  3. Step 3

    When you're ready to cook the cod, dredge each fillet or cutlet in some flour before dipping it into the batter.

Tips & Warnings
  • This batter recipe should be enough for 4 cod fillets.
  • Make sure your oil is hot or the batter won't be crisp!
