How to Find Friends on MySpace

Are you looking for old friends on MySpace? How about new ones? There are few better places on the Internet to find people you know and those you don't

Instructions

1. Create a MySpace account if you haven't done so already. Be sure to make it interesting and to actually put some time into it. Do NOT put private or sensitive information on your page, there are a lot of creeps out there.

2. First lets look for friends you already have in real life. MySpace offers several ways to go about this. For a specific person or group of people first click Search. The page in front of you will give you a few options on finding people. You can search by their full (real) name, a display name (the name above their picture on MySpace), or an e-mail address. You can also search by school or institution. Through this method you can only find people who link themselves up to this school (i.e. University of _____), so go back to your profile setting and link yourself up to any schools or places you attend or are involved in.

3. Next we should look for new friends (or people you know but can't find through the means above). On the same Search page you can search for people with the same interests as you or work in the same field. Once again, this search is based off the information put in their profile so if you want people to find YOU go update your profile now with the relevant information. The next option is the Browse tool (located between Home and Search). This is a very useful tool in finding specific people, particularly in regard to location. With this tool you can narrow your search of people with options such as Sex, Age, Martial Status, and probably the most useful the option to put in an area code and to search for people around a specific area.

4. Want other options for finding new friends? MySpace over the past few years has done an awesome job at making their social networking site accessible to several different forms of media. A great place to start is the Forums section where thousdands of people post daily on variety of subjects. Go search your favorite musical artist in the Music section, or check out out some comedians on the Comedy page. There are even sections of the website dedicated to comics and movies. Groups are also a go way to go to find people with the same interests.
