Learn to make this healthy salad and enjoy alone or as a side dish with dinner. Your family or guests will love the super foods used in this salad. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 2 tablespoons of milled flax seed
  • 1 Head of lettuce or other greens
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1 clove raw garlic
  • 1/2 small sweet onion
  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

    • 1

      Wash the lettuce and tear it into bite size pieces.

    • 2

      Peel and cut an onion into thin slices and then separate it into rings.

    • 3

      Chop tomatoes into small pieces after rinsing well.

    • 4

      Place lettuce, tomato and onion into large serving bowl. Sprinkle chopped walnuts into mix and toss well.

    • 5

      In a separate bowl or cruet, put the olive oil, vinegar and flax seed.

    • 6

      Peel a clove of garlic and mince. Add the garlic to the dressing and combine well.

    • 7

      Add the dressing mixture to the bowl of salad a little at a time and toss well. The amount of dressing you add, is up to you.

Tips & Warnings

  • To make this even more healthy and colorful add some pomegranate seeds and some finely chopped broccoli.
