Learn to make this healthy salad and enjoy alone or as a side dish with dinner. Your family or guests will love the super foods used in this salad.
Things You'll Need
- 2 tablespoons of milled flax seed
- 1 Head of lettuce or other greens
- 2 tomatoes
- 1 clove raw garlic
- 1/2 small sweet onion
- 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
Wash the lettuce and tear it into bite size pieces.
Peel and cut an onion into thin slices and then separate it into rings.
Chop tomatoes into small pieces after rinsing well.
Place lettuce, tomato and onion into large serving bowl. Sprinkle chopped walnuts into mix and toss well.
In a separate bowl or cruet, put the olive oil, vinegar and flax seed.
Peel a clove of garlic and mince. Add the garlic to the dressing and combine well.
Add the dressing mixture to the bowl of salad a little at a time and toss well. The amount of dressing you add, is up to you.
Tips & Warnings
- To make this even more healthy and colorful add some pomegranate seeds and some finely chopped broccoli.
