Adobe plug-ins are programs exclusively designed to enhance the usability and increase the number of functions an Adobe program can perform. Plug-ins are available for all Adobe programs. Plug-ins can be used to perform such operations as saving space on your hard drive, distorting a picture, or converting file extensions to make a file compatible with another program. It is possible to use a plug-in made by any company with an Adobe program.

  1. Step 1

Select the plug-in you would like to download for your specific Adobe program. You can find a directory of available plug-ins for Adobe at PluginsWorld.com.

  2. Step 2

Close the Adobe program you are using to ensure there are no complications during the plug-in download.

  3. Step 3

Download the desired plug-in into your Adobe program. For example, if you would like to use the mosaic tile plug-in by Auto FX with your Adobe Photoshop CS2 program simply download the plug-in from the Auto FX website by choosing the "Download" prompt then clicking "Save to Folder".

  4. Step 4

Install the downloaded plug-in into the specific Adobe program. In this instance you would choose Adobe Photoshop CS2 as the "Install Location" found at the bottom of the install window.

  5. Step 5

Open the Adobe program. For this example, open Adobe Photoshop CS2.

  6. Step 6

Access the plug-in through the plug-in menu. The location will vary depending on the specific program. In Adobe Photshop CS2 you will choose "Filter" from the top bar to select the plug-in for use. Follow the prompts to turn your photo into a mosaic tile masterpiece.
