1
Gather all of the listed materials. This project is great for using up leftover craft items such as stickers, stencils and pompoms. Make sure there is enough space to work and begin by choosing a colored construction paper or doily. Doilies make great snowflakes because of the lacy design; however, if your kids want to be super creative, they can choose any color of paper for their snowflake.

2
Cut a pattern in the paper for the snowflake or allow the child to design one himself. To cut a design into the paper, fold the paper in half and cut into the fold (triangle cuts are easiest for little ones). For a more thorough design, fold the paper in half twice; once creates a rectangle shape, twice condenses it into a smaller square shape. The more slices and shapes that are cut into the paper, the more design it will have. If your children are a bit older, try folding the paper into a triangle shape or begin with a circular piece of paper and fold that in half and begin cutting into it.

Take out the glue sticks, glitter and any other odd and ends to decorate the snowflake. While you can use regular glue, glue sticks are a lot less messy and won't soak through the paper. Glitter always looks pretty on snowflakes. Kids tend to get heavy-handed with glitter, so put down newspaper before applying the glitter, and once the glue is on and the glitter is poured, lightly shake the snowflake over the paper.

4
Use the paper-hole punch to place a hole the tip of the snowflake once it is dry Thread a piece of string through the hole. The length of the string depends on where you would like to hang the mobile.

5
Make several snowflakes and attach strings to create a mobile. Use craft sticks in an "X" shape or a wire coat hanger and hang the strings from the hanger.

Tips & Warnings
If your kids want to use heavier decorations on their snowflakes, fortify the back of the snowflake with an extra piece of construction paper or a thin piece of cardboard or posterboard.
Monitor children when working with scissors and other craft materials.
