Are you planning a Halloween party and trying to find Halloween games to play? Halloween is not just for costumes, there are all kinds of ways to spice up a holiday-themed party. Here are some ideas to try.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Apples
  • Baby pool
  • Jar
  • Candy
  • Pinata
  • Pumpkins
  • Carving knives
Step1
Bobbing for apples is a classic Halloween game and always a party favorite! Just visit your local toy store and buy a small wading pool made for children. Find a good location to set up the pool--if you live in a warmer climate, the backyard may be a good idea, otherwise, the basement or kitchen may work well. Remember, there will likely be some splashing! Fill the pool about halfway with water. Then just throw the apples in and let them float around. Once your guests see the set up, they'll know exactly what to do! You can allow a few people to play at a time and race each other to see who can get the most apples in their mouths.
Step2
Guessing games can be great fun. Just get some empty glass jars and fill them up with different types of candy. Count the number of pieces of candy in each jar and write this down somewhere secret. When your guests arrive, ask them to guess how many pieces are in each jar. Whoever guesses the number closest to the answer, without going higher than the true answer, wins the jar of candy!
Step3
Have a costume contest. This is a fun way to encourage your guests to really put some effort and creativity into their costumes. When most of your guest have arrived, you can put on a little costume show and have people show off their creativity. Then, your guests can vote on which costumes they like best. Make sure to have a prize for your winners.
Step4
Pumpkin carving is a fun and traditional Halloween activity. Buy a small pumpkin and safety carving knife for each of your guests. Then, let them use their imaginations to design scary or amusing pumpkin designs. You can even judge them and offer a prize to the winner. Another idea, in order to avoid using knives, is to buy acrylic paint and have your guests paint designs on the pumpkins instead.
Step5
Playing pinata is always a hit at any holiday party. If you visit a toy store, you'll surely find some festive Halloween pinatas. Just fill the pinata up with lots of candy and hang it up in a good place. Then, blindfold your guests one at a time and give them 3 chances to try to hit the pinata with a baseball bat. You can add to the fun by spinning your friends around before letting them take a whack at the pinata. Once it is busted, your friends will know to run for the candy!

Tips & Warnings

  • Make your party more fun by playing Halloween music.
  • Be sure to protect your home! If you think things will get too dangerous, set up the pinata or pool outside, in the basement or in the garage.
