Step 1
Go to the Audio Mixer panel, and click on “Enable Track for Recording” within the track you will record audio to.

Select the “Recording Input” channel from the pop-up menu. Repeat for each channel if you are recording multiple tracks at once.

Click the “Record” button at the bottom of the Audio Mixer to prepare for Record mode, and then click “Play” to start recording.

Adjust the volume as you record to maintain the correct level. Adjust by sliding the volume control up and down.

Press the “Stop” button when finished. Your new audio track will appear as a track in the Project panel and is ready to be dragged into sequence.

Mute the audio while you are in the process of recording by going to the Edit menu, then selecting "Preferences" and then "Audio." Choose “Mute Input During Timeline Recording,” and then click "OK."

Watch for red indicators that will appear at the top of the meter if the audio you record goes over levels. Audio that is too loud will register above 0 dB, and audio that is too quiet will register near -18 dB.
