Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Magazine pages
  • Fusible webbing
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Sewing machine
  • Thread
  • Paper hole punch
  • Grommets
  • Grommet tool
  • Cording or ribbon
  1. Step 1

Pick five pages from your favorite magazine to be a part of the purse. Use a razor blade to carefully cut the pages from the magazine, as close to the spine as possible.

  2. Step 2

Cut two pieces, for the front and back, to measure 9 1/2 inches by 6 inches. Cut two pieces to measure 9 1/2 inches by 3 inches for the sides. Measure and cut a bottom piece that measures 6 inches by 3 inches.

  3. Step 3

Measure and cut two pieces of fusible webbing that are 10 1/2 by 7 inches, two that measure 10 1/2 by 4 inches and one piece that measures 7 inches by 4 inches.

  4. Step 4

Adhere the fusible webbing to each of the magazine pages according the manufacturer instructions. Center the webbing on each page so that there is one half and inch of excess webbing around the perimeter of each page.

  5. Step 5

Line up the bottom of the purse to the corresponding sides of the bag. Trim excess webbing away. Carefully sew the bottom on the purse, maneuvering the paper as necessary. Trim all loose threads.

  6. Step 6

Mark the placement for the grommets on both the front and back of the purse. Punch holes on the markings with a paper hole punch. Insert the grommets with a grommet tool. Tie the cording through the grommets to make the purse straps.
