How to Make Apple-Berry Crisp

Apple-berry crisp has been a classic and favorite in my home for years; it's a real crowd pleaser. It's easy to make and can be prepared in advance. Be creative mix up the types of apples and berries to create a different apple-berry crisp each time.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Butter
  • Baking Dish
  • Fruit peeler and kitchen knife
  • Cutting board
  • 2 bowls and wooden spoon
  • 7 to 8 apples
  • 1 3/4 cup berries
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • Dash of salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 6 tbsp. of cold butter.
  • 1/3 cup of oats

Step1
Butter a baking dish and preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
Step2
Wash your apples under running water, peel and slice your apples into 1/4-inch slices.
Step3
Place your sliced apples in a bowl and combine with 1 3/4 cups of berries, tossing lightly with your wooden spoon.
Step4
Add your brown sugar, cinnamon and butter to the fruit mixture and continue to mix well.
Step5
Pour apple berry crisp into your prepared baking dish and set aside.
Step6
Use second bowl to combine flour, salt, brown sugar and cinnamon mixing dry ingredients well. Cut in cold butter using a pastry blender until mixture becomes crumbly and stir in oats.
Step7
Sprinkle this topping over your apple berry crisp and bake for about 45 minutes or until topping becomes crisp.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can serve your apple berry crisp warm or cold. If serving from the oven top with whipped or vanilla ice cream.
