How to Get Halo Custom Edition
Halo Custom Edition takes the PC version of Halo to a whole new level. With this downloadable version, players can play the mulitiplayer maps that other fans created with the Halo Editing Kit and distributed on the web. It's a great way to enjoy new challenges if you've grown bored with the old Halo game.

1
Have a legal authentic copy of the Halo PC game. You will need the serial number or CD key from the Halo PC game (which should be printed on the CD-ROM sleeve) in order to install the Custom Edition version.
-
2
Locate a website that has the game available for downloading. There are a number of sites that offer the game.
-
-
3
Download the game file. This will be done free of charge but could take some time as the file is about 170 megabytes. So make sure your computer has plenty of memory space available.
-
4
Install the game onto your computer, much like you would install Halo PC. Keep in mind you will be required to input the Halo PC CD key during installation, as explained earlier.
-
5
Find the Halo custom maps on the Internet and download them (a search engine check will help). Locate the file within the download that's in map form and transfer it to the "MAPS" folder in the Custom Edition directory.

Tips & Warnings
If any downloaded maps are in .rar or .zip form, you'll need to decompress them before transferring them to the Halo game.
Once you have Halo Custom Edition, you can then download and install the Halo Editing Kit so you can create your own maps for the game.
