'Competitive eating' is almost like a sport for some as it takes focus and determination to become one of the faster eaters alive. Read these steps and learn what it takes to win a eating contest.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Get ready for perfection. Like all other contests, you must get prepared by training yourself before eating plenty of food. Most trainers prefer drinking gallons of water and eating boiled cabbage to stretch the elasticity of the stomach. Also being fit has its advantage than those who are overweight because the more exercise you do (especially cardiovascular exercise), you can splurge on food.

  2. Step 2

Many people believe starving yourself means a empty stomach or fasting days before the event will help you chow down all the food you can eat. If anything, it will tightened up your stomach leaving less room for food.

  3. Step 3

Mind over matter. Before the competition starts, meditate so you can have the control to eat more than you can handle. Although you may feel full in the stomach, your mind will be powerful enough to resist that feeling and urge to stop consuming more food.

  4. Step 4

Observe competitive eating champs. One of the world fastest eaters is Takeru Kobayashi who consistently beats of all his competitors with his quick eating techniques. Watch some of his challenges on sport channels like ESPN or videos on websites like Youtube to get tips on his eating styles.

Tips & Warnings
  • For food that is in one piece (like a hot dog) break it into into smaller ones. It will be easier to chew and less chance of you choking on the food.
  • To avoid getting your mouth really dry from certain foods, you can slightly damp water on a hot dog bun so you can swallow your food easily
  • If you don't win, do not give up. With more practice, you can beat your opponents and become one of the world's greatest eaters.
  • Never take on more food than you can handle. Shoveling hot dogs, pizzas, hot tamales or anything else to impress the judges and beat every one else can actually lead to vomiting up the food and being disqualified.
