Washing curly hair doesn't have to turn into an unwanted chore. With the proper technique, you'll be able to easily manage your curly hair. Usually, the largest problem with managing curly hair is to prevent extreme dryness. Once you have mastered the proper maintenance steps of washing your curly hair, you'll quickly notice how healthy it has become.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Conditioner

Step1
Wash your curly hair on a daily basis. Some curly hair individuals think that this is the worse thing you could do to your hair. However, there are great benefits to doing this. You'll be able to enjoy cleaner hair and your favorite hair scent on a regular basis.
Step2
Use a conditioner instead of a shampoo for your daily washes. Although shampoos are great to use, they can sometimes strip your curly hair of much needed moisture. Lack of moisture is an enemy to any curly hair owner. Overly dry hair will turn your beautiful curls into a frizzy mess.
Step3
Look for organic conditioners whenever possible. They will provide your curly hair with an ample amount of useful nutrients and moisture. Some conditioners that are not organic contain unwanted ingredients that will damage your hair. Instead of adding moisture to your curly hair, they prevent it from absorbing it.
Step4
Let the conditioner remain in your curly hair for several minutes. The longer you allow it to stay in your curly hair, the softer it will be. Your curly locks will get the chance to soak in all of the helpful moisturizers that it has been lacking. If you have split ends then concentrate on applying the conditioner to these areas.
Step5
Use a wide toothed comb when taking unwanted tangles out of your curly hair. You won't have to fight with your curly hair as much with this type of comb. If your conditioner has a detangling formula, then your curly hair will be even easier to comb.
Step6
Rinse the conditioner out of your curly hair with lukewarm water, but do not take all of it out. Leave a little behind for your second rinse. This method will help to make sure that your curls are as beautiful as possible.
Step7
Use cold water for your final hair rinse. Doing this will easily seal the hair cuticle and have it to lay flat. Another benefit of this technique is to get rid of unwanted frizz and greatly increase shine.
Step8
Take the excess water out of your curly hair by squeezing it. Gently use a towel to scrunch your hair several times without causing tangles or frizz. Rubbing your hair with a towel will cause you to lose the natural shape of your curls.
Step9
Add your normal styling products and allow your hair to air dry. If possible, stay away from any blow dryers, diffusers, or even hooded dryers. On some occasions, these items will cause major heat damage to your curls.
Step10
Turn your head upside down and shake your curls gently when dry. This will give your beautiful curls extra volume and body.
