Your later generation Apple iPod can be locked to protect your personal data from anyone else's eyes. There are a variety of ways to unlock it depending on your access to the combination, the primary computer linked with the iPod, or neither.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Unlock with the Combination

Step1
Remember the 4-digit combination you used to set the screen lock.
Step2
Enter the exact combination. If the combination is correct, the iPod unlocks and displays the screen you were on before you locked it.
Step3
The numbers on the screen flash red if you enter the code incorrectly.

Unlock with the Primary Computer

Step1
Plug the iPod into the primary computer linked to that iPod, the first computer you synchronized it with unless you have designated another computer as the primary computer.
Step2
Open iTunes and sync the iPod as normal.
Step3
Remove the iPod, following the normal removal procedure. The iPod unlocks automatically as you remove it.

Unlock by Restoring

Step1
Restore the iPod to factory settings if you do not have access to your primary computer. This erases all of the data you have stored on the iPod.
Step2
Plug your iPod into the new computer you want to be the primary computer. Open iTunes and click on the "Restore" button.
Step3
Reload your data, if it is available and sync your iPod. Remove it following normal procedures.
