Step 1
Write a short announcement and send it to a newspaper to print. Newspapers all over the country have printed gay engagement announcements. This is an easy way to let lots of people know and you can also cut it out as a keepsake. See resources for a nationwide list of newspapers that print gay announcements.
-
Step 2
Buy or make some cards and send them to your family and friends. Sending out cards either by traditional mail or email is one of the most personal ways to announce your engagement. Use photos of yourselves and design them together with your partner for a truly unique touch.
-
Step 3
Post a blog on your Web site or on message boards you and your acquaintances frequent. Blogging is quick and cheap but it can be hit or miss as not everyone checks that frequently, so don't use this method by itself if you want to announce your engagement in a hurry.
-
Step 4
Contact local radio or even TV stations in your area that you know have liberal content programming. With celebrities and politicians making gay announcements, there is far less censorship in the public domain. Have a list of local stations and contact several if at first you don't succeed.
-
Step 5
Throw a party and invite everyone you know. This is by far the most fun but expensive way to announce your engagement and you can host it at a local gay hot spot if you want to be ultra stylish. Research possible venues and price it before you commit to anything.

on 11/17/2009 Another great source for creating engagement announcements is www.Amigram.com. People appreciate the opportunity to share their good news without having to let all their relatives and parents’ friends onto their Facebook page, pay for a newspaper listing, or create a website.
Of course, they can also send their announcement to Facebook and Twitter, if they want to spread the news; or if they want to keep their announcement private, they can restrict it so only friends and family see it.
