When you first start dating it can be hard to let a boy know you like him. If you are a little shy it can be even harder to let a boy know you are interested in him. The good news is that overcoming your shyness around boys is possible, it just takes practice. Follow these steps to learn how to stop being boy shy.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Remember that the only way to get over your shyness is to do whatever it is you are afraid of. Relax and be yourself, you will never know if the boy you are interested in likes you back if you don't try to talk to him.
Step2
Make eye contact with boys you are interested in; it's a subtle way of letting him know that you notice him. Make eye contact, smile and look away; don't stare for too long.
Step3
Talk to boys from school that you aren't interested in so you can practice without feeling any pressure. If you talk about stuff you are interested in you will find it easier to carry on a conversation.
Step4
Hang out with the boy you like as just friends. If you go out with a group of friends it will be easier to have a conversation and you won't feel so much pressure.
Step5
Practice makes perfect. You may not feel as if you are overcoming your shyness because it's still hard to initiate a conversation, but the more you talk to boys the less shy you will be.

Tips & Warnings

  • Remember that if someone you like isn't interested in you, there are plenty of other boys that will be. There is no reason to feel like you won't ever get a boyfriend; some boys may be as shy as you are and are too afraid to approach you.
