Step 1
Decide on the type of razor to use when you shave your arms. Whether you choose a disposable or electric razor, keep quality in mind. A bargain razor can nick or cut you which may result in scarring or difficulty shaving the next time around.
-
Step 2
Soak your arms in warm water for ten minutes. This will soften the hair and open up the follicles. The hair will stand up resulting in a smoother shave and less wear on the razor.
-
Step 3
Apply a thick layer of shaving cream to your arms. Allow it to sit for five minutes to soften the hair and skin and prevent razor burn. If you use an electric razor, make sure it is water resistant before you use shaving cream.
-
Step 4
Pull the skin on the arms tightly with your non-dominant hand if you shave someone else's arms, and use your dominant hand to shave. If you shave your own arms, you will need to shave the opposite arm with your dominant hand and vice versa.
-
Step 5
Shave with light pressure in the direction of hair growth. Keep the razor at a 30-degree angle to your arms. Proceed to shave slowly and lightly, especially around the elbows.
-
Step 6
Rinse the arms and pat them dry. Apply a dry or sensitive skin lotion to the arms to prevent redness and irritation.
