Amy Winehouse, the British singer, is also famous for her style choices. The singer's beehive hairdo never caught on, but women around the world are trying to emulate her winged eyeliner. Winged eyeliner has been popular for decades, since Elizabeth Taylor first donned the look in the movie "Cleopatra." The secret now is to freshen that look.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Apply a thick black coating over your entire eyelid using a black eye shadow stick. When finished, your eyelid should be entirely black.

  2. Step 2

Lift the eye shadow stick slightly when you reach the outside corner of your eyelid so that you leave a small black mark on this corner. This gives you a spot to work with later.

  3. Step 3

Make a small line from the outside corner of your eye upwards slightly to your eyebrow. Be careful to keep some space between your line and your eyebrow to avoid looking too dark.

  4. Step 4

Return to the outside corner of your eye and reapply the eye shadow stick to make the winged look. Here you can make it as heavy as Amy Winehouse's eye shadow or make it a little lighter and more natural.

  5. Step 5

Cover the lower part of your eyelid, directly above your lash line and up to your winged area with a jet black matte eye shadow. This will keep the color from fading or wearing off.

  6. Step 6

Finish off the Amy Winehouse look with lots of black mascara.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try warming up the shade stick a little before you use it for the first time to make it go on more smoothly. You can either rub the tube in your hands or put it in the microwave for 10 to 15 seconds.
  • If you make a mistake or decide the Amy Winehouse look isn't for you, simply remove the excess makeup with a cotton ball dipped in makeup remover.
  • You can also use a heavy black liquid eyeliner instead of the shade stick.
