How to Improve Roaming on Verizon Cell Phones

Perform a quick update to get the most out of your Verizon Wireless PRL.

Verizon Wireless has an update that ensures your phone is using its Preferred Roaming List -- called PRL -- when you are out of Verizon's coverage area. If you have not updated your phone with the most recent PRL, make sure to do so to improve your Verizon Wireless roaming coverage.

Things You'll Need

• Verizon Cell Phone

1. Turn on your cell phone and wait for it boot up.

2. Dial *228 and hit your "Send" or "OK" key.

3. Choose option "2" at the prompt.

4. Wait for approximately two minutes for your phone to perform the PRL update.

Tips & Warnings

• Perform this update every three months, or when you change your phone's coverage plan or get a new phone.
