Although telephones with cords are rare as a result of the popularity of cordless phones, many households still have them. Those same households encounter the problem of having twisted phone cords, an issue that is easily resolved.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Get a short telephone cord. It's much more difficult to twist a short phone cord than a long cord. A short cord may not be as convenient to use as a long cord, but it reduces the twisting.

  2. Step 2

Purchase a phone untangler. Websites such as MyPencil and GovConnection offer phone cord twist-free adapters. They are called "twist-free adapters," "untanglers" or "cord twist restrainers." Each of these devices prevents phone cords from twisting.

  3. Step 3

Stand in one spot when you talk. People who pace back and forth and walk around in circles while talking on the phone twist their phone cords. If you're not talking on a cordless phone, then watch your step. Either stand in the same spot or sit down when talking on the phone.

  4. Step 4

Monitor the phone cord after each phone call. If you can't totally avoid getting your phone cord twisted, spend a few extra minutes to untwist the phone cord after each use.
