If you have wide shoulders, you know just how hard shopping can be, particularly when it comes to choosing swimsuits. While you have to be careful when selecting a suit, don't despair. A few simple tricks can help you to find a swimsuit which minimizes your broad shoulders and accentuates your figure.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Look for bathing suits that draw attention to your hips and away from your wide shoulders. By accenting your hips, you can create an illusion of narrow shoulders by drawing attention to the lower part of your body.

  2. Step 2

Select a suit which has wide straps which will help to balance the proportions of your shoulders. Spaghetti straps, triangular cut bikini tops and strapless swimsuits are strictly off limits. Additionally, squared necklines are better than V-cuts; however, if your thick straps meet behind the neck, it can often balance the V-cut and draw attention down towards the cleavage and waist.

  3. Step 3

Pick high cut hips when choosing either bikinis or full-body swimsuits to help draw attention to your hips and waist. Bikini bottoms are best for your body type, and can really balance your shape when tied up high the hips, which helps to add width. If you are tall or long waisted, a short wrap skirt can help to draw attention to the waist, hips and legs as well

  4. Step 4

Choose bold patterns and colors, particularly when selecting bikini bottoms which will move attention down and away from your shoulders. Two-piece swimsuits with a solid colored top and patterned bottom is a great trick for balancing wide shoulders.
