How to Decode a Caesar Box Code

Whether or not the Caesar box code was created by Caesar is not certain, but that's not important. What is important is that is a great way to send secret messages that take a little brain power to decode.

Instructions

    • 1

Try to think of messages that can be broken down into a square when decoding Caesar box cube, for example: four rows of letters, four letters long. If you have 25 letters, do five rows, five letters long, and so on.

    • 2

Go to the next closest "square" if you can't break your message down into equal rows of letters and lines when you are decoding Caesar box codes. For example, if your message is 15 letters long, do three rows of four letters, and one row of three.

    • 3

Create your message for a Caesar box code. Here is one example: Jaecaunknsrdeto.

    • 4

Put the message in the rows described in Steps 1 and 2.

    • 5

Decode the Caesar box code by reading the message in this manner: read the first letters of all the lines first, the second letters of all the lines next, the third letters in the lines next, and the last letters of all the lines last. The Caesar box code in step five reads: Jane Austen Rocks.

Have fun with your Caesar box code, and pass "secret" messages to friends and family.
